The things some people will do for money, billions of dollars of it, while remaining ignorant of the outcome, the murder of the art of flesh-and-blood writers. Or the refusal to acknowledge it. It's plagiarism on a grand scale. How different is it to grand larceny, really? How low can they sink?

Right now I'm deep in rehearsal land for upcoming concerts - and our last one was 2 years ago, so I am full of anxiety which is crap but also great that I can experience those nerves because we're creating new work, and being in our art again. I saw the opening of the US Leg of Tori's tour and I thought of you.
I think it is telling that the two things that have filled my well the most this year have been concerts with witch choirs: Tori and Florence and the Machine. The angel witches and the witch choir served different functions for each show, but they also reminded me that there is deep mystical power inside me and all of us.
Florence ended up being more healing for me, but I also think it was because it was the first big thing I did after my hysterectomy and it felt like a right of passage in a way. But I keep on coming back to Sympathy Magic and to your WTF, I sing "come on, come on, I can take it. Give me everything that you got. What else? What else?"
I heard Florence's show was amaazing! I love her voice and her newest record is terrific. Love that there was witchy energy there, too, and so glad it was healing for you.
I heard the Florida shows were awesome - Tori was sans drummer for those right? They had their own energy. The second night in NYC was also a really good show (not me FULLY SNOT BAWLING when she did Silent All These Years), but the first night was one for the record books.
Tori was sans drummer for my show, but it was so magical. I am so happy to have heard Pretty Good Year live, which was the song that hit me way harder than I expected it to. I would have loved Silent All These Years. Or Famous Blue Raincoat, which I saw has been done on this tour. Which is my favorite cover of Leonard Cohen song. (Take that overdone Hallejuahs.) But I'm also happy for what I got.
Aww. I wish you could have seen it. It was fantastic.
Also, on the Florence side, screaming "it must be nice to be a man and make boring music because you can" with thousands of other people is fantastic. Highly recommend. Because I am so done with so many men and their boring art.
