"little me" is tough for me, too. I'd like to think I've outgrown her, but that's not how it works, is it? Well done for taking care of you!

No, it is definitely not how it works. I think it's easier to try and disavow our little selves, because there's so much shame and sadness and fear wrapped up in it. But it's also the only way to get rid of those awful feelings in our adult lives.

Basically, this work is never done...and it's tiring. But taking care of our WHOLE selves is worth it.

I can truly relate to the notion that every move you make invites "getting in trouble." And I love the idea that getting a C is really more than satisfactory at times. Being tough can suck the life out of a person.

Yeah, I think that fear of getting into trouble is also a result of trauma and having emotionally immature parents. Sometimes "getting in trouble" = they expected their kid to regulate their emotions, and if they failed, they got yelled at or grounded or worse.

It's all just exhausting. ❤️

Oh my. This is maybe my favorite of all your posts. Glad I finally got around to it.

Omg thank you so much! It didn’t get a lot of eyes on it so I was like welp can’t win em all. 😂 that means a lot, thank you.
