Hello!
How are we holding up? I am 15 shades of this:
The good news is that Winter is, at last, Officially Over.
I was supposed to post this playlist on Sunday, but if you didn’t know, it was a Holiday here in New York City on Saturday. It’s an unofficial holiday, but a holiday nonetheless. That holiday is…
The First Over 75 Degree Day in New York City That Happens to Fall On a Weekend.
One of the only upsides of COVID - and believe me, I’d give it back if we could just Time Machine that shit away - is that there is an abundance of outdoor seating at most of our fine drinking establishments. Patios used to not even be opened until mid-April at best. Now…you wanna drink outside in January? You do you.
My friend texted me on Tuesday to plan for Saturday, once we both saw the foreccast. There was only one thing to do, and it’s a thing I do not do much anymore, which is day drink. Outside.
Friends, it was a shitshow out there. Every bar and restaurant was packed to the gills, and people were doing Feral Patio in the way only New Yorkers can. We were not a shitshow, as we are over 40 and we have learned the very hard way to treat this holiday (and our aging bodies) with the respect they deserve. This holiday is for basking, not for blacking out on cheap nonsense.
However, we also understand that The Children have not learned this yet. The Children also do not understand that this weather can vanish as quickly as it came. We were seated out of doors at a second location, and with one gust of wind, it was over. It went from 70 degrees to about 40 in literally two minutes. And there it stayed. The three adults in my crew had all brought a Sensible Jacket, because we knew what could happen.
Unlike this young lady.

Pour one out for all the girls in tiny clothes who shivered their drunk asses home.
ANYWAY. I had a playlist made (I mentioned it in my last post) but it was….maybe a little dark? Even for me.
And so, I retrenched and made a playlist appropriate for the season.
