Happy Friday my lovely Climbers! God this week SUUUUUUUUCKED. I am finally getting over my cold and look forward to a splendiferous weekend of doing nothing and some good ol’ fashioned dissociating. I have actual work-work to do, since I have a Monday deadline, but once that’s done I will be zoned out.

Before we get to the playlist, I wanted to inform you that I read three whole books on vacation! THREE! I am so delighted to have my love of long form reading back, and I can’t recommend these highly enough.

  1. The Harder I Fight the More I Love You by

    Neko Case
    - Neko is one of my favorite musicians and songwriters (her Substack is awesome too), so I wasn’t shocked that her gorgeous imagery and sense of humor translated well to prose. What I was surprised by was how much I literally cried reading this book. As someone who has experienced parental estrangement, so much of it resonated with me. Neko’s upbringing involved a shocking degree of poverty and neglect, and it is not an easy read, but her humanity and wit shines through it all. The last twenty or so pages of this book made me openly weep. What a gift to have her in this world.
